Since its inception in 2000, Gavers Community Cancer Foundation has made remarkable strides, raising over $9.1 million in the fight against cancer. Collaborating with esteemed organizations such as Northwestern Medicine, Rush University Medical Center, Family Health Partnership Clinic, Lurie Children’s Hospital, and Testicular Cancer Foundation, the foundation is devoted to increasing cancer awareness, education, and research.

The inspiring story of Steve Gaver, the heart and soul of the foundation, exemplifies the importance of early detection and education about cancer. Despite his battle with testicular cancer, Steve's unyielding determination and resilience spurred him to amplify the fight against this disease, leading to the creation of the Gavers Community Cancer Foundation.

Through the foundation, Steve's powerful message of early detection and the importance of donating to fight cancer resonates within our community. The Foundation's mission echoes his sentiments - to raise cancer awareness through education, screenings, improving local cancer care, and boosting funds for cancer research. Initiatives like the 'Get Checked' screenings by Northwestern Medicine and Family Health Partnership Clinic, and sponsorship of the Testicular Cancer Foundation's annual summit, provide much-needed support to survivors and caregivers.

The Gavers Community Cancer Foundation also focuses on improving local healthcare provisions. Establishing the Northwestern Medicine Gavers Breast Center in Crystal Lake, IL, and providing access to advanced ultrasound technology are testament to their commitment. In addition, they fund the Patient Express program at Northwestern Medicine, which offers rides to treatment and healthcare services for those in need.

The Gavers Community Cancer Foundation stands as a beacon of hope and resilience in the battle against cancer. Rooted in the story of Steve Gaver, the Foundation continues to channel the strength, tenacity, and dedication that marked Steve's own journey. In its unwavering commitment to raise awareness, improve healthcare facilities, and fund lifesaving research, the Gavers Community Cancer Foundation is a testament to the power of community and the enduring spirit of humanity in the face of adversity.
